Despacito by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi, and Daddy Yankee became the song most streamed at the time within less than six weeks. It was a mixture of pop music and reggaeton did not just bring interest in reggaeton but also drew interest towards Latin music more generally. The Billboard Top 100 featured two songs in Spanish mostly, and four in 2016. But during the peak of Despacito's fame in 2017, there were 19 mostly Spanish songs that were included in the Top 100. And in 2020 there were 41. In the wake of Justin Bieber released his bilingual remix of Despacito in the year 2017, the most well-known artists began to join forces with reggaeton artists. Drake and Bad Bunny were part of a team for the track MIA MIA (2018) and Madonna teamed up with Maluma for Medellin in the year 2019. The gradual mainstreaming of reggaeton became an issue for certain performers in 2020. Rauw alejandro and a young generation, however, were keen to keep the look. It was often associated with electronic dance and other styles.
